THE DIFFERENT BIGSTER HYBRID POWERTRAINS

Hybrids combine a conventional petrol engine with an electric motor that serves multiple functions.

FULL HYBRID

Composition
1 combustion engine
Clutchless multimode automatic gearbox
1 self-charging 280V traction battery

Charging the battery
No need to plug in, the battery charges itself as you drive using the energy recovered during braking and deceleration.

How it works

The electric motor allows 100% electric driving, and provides a power boost to the internal combustion engine the rest of the time.
It also converts the recovered energy into electricity to charge the traction battery.
The multi-mode gearbox automatically switches between 3 driving modes:

  • 100% electric
  • electric + combustion-powered
  • 100% combustion-powered.

Advantages

  • Systematic 100% electric vehicle start-ups.
  • Up to 40%* less fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than an equivalent petrol engine.
  • 80%** of all-electric city driving time.

* In urban consumption cycle
** Based on internal tests using the urban phase (low) of the WLTC (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle). % of driving time may vary depending on actual driving conditions (road type, driving style, and weather conditions).

MILD HYBRID

Composition
1 combustion engine
1 starter-alternator
1 self-charging 48V battery for on-the-road use

Charging the battery
No need to plug in, the battery charges itself as you drive using the energy recovered during braking and deceleration.

How it works

The internal combustion engine gets extra torque from the starter-generator when driving is most energy-intensive, such as starts or accelerations.
It also helps recharge the 48 V traction battery.

Advantages

Up to 10% less fuel consumption than an equivalent petrol engine.

MILD HYBRID

Composition
1 combustion engine
1 starter-alternator
1 self-charging battery
1 rear-wheel drive shaft

Charging the battery
No need to plug in, the battery charges itself as you drive using the energy recovered during braking and deceleration.

How it works

The internal combustion engine gets extra torque from the starter-generator when driving is most energy-intensive, such as starts or accelerations.
It also helps recharge the 48 V traction battery. The 4X4 Terrain Control offers 5 driving modes:

  • Auto
  • Snow
  • Mud/Sand
  • Off-road
  • Eco

Advantages

Reduce your fuel consumption and your CO2 emissions by up to 10% compared to an equivalent petrol engine.

FULL HYBRID

Composition
1 combustion engine
1 starter-generator
6-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox
1 electric motor with a 2-speed gearbox

Battery charging
No need to plug in, the battery charges while driving using energy recovered during braking and deceleration phases.

How it works

The electric motor allows 100% electric driving and boosts the combustion engine the rest of the time.
It also converts recovered energy into electricity to charge the traction battery.
In addition to steering wheel-mounted paddles for changing gears without using the clutch, a drive selector offers 5 modes:

  • Auto
  • Snow
  • Mud/Sand
  • Off-road
  • Eco

Advantages

  • Up to 60% of driving time in urban conditions in full electric mode.
  • Automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles for a dynamic and reassuring driving experience.
  • Up to 1,500 kg towing capacity.
  • Up to 780 km driving range.

DO YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

The traction battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000km for hybrid engines and 3 years (unlimited mileage) for mild hybrid engines.

Yes. Depending on use, the driving range of a hybrid vehicle is greater than that of a combustion-powered or electric car, since you can alternate between multiple energy sources.

With the mild hybrid 140 engine, the Bigster range is over 780km, over 900km with the hybrid 155 and even over 1400 km for the mild hybrid-G 140 (cumulative range with both LPG + petrol tanks).

It involves mild hybridisation of the vehicle, which provides assistance to the combustion engine only during starting and acceleration to reduce consumption and improve performance.
In the specific case of the hybrid G 150 4×4 powertrain and its additional motor located on the rear axle, this hybridisation allows it to run 60% of its city driving time on full electric power*.
It therefore offers more flexible and dynamic driving while providing fuel savings compared with an equivalent non-electric petrol engine.
* Based on internal tests using the urban phase (low) of the WLTC (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle). % of driving time may vary depending on actual driving conditions (road type, driving style, and weather conditions).

It’s so easy! With hybrid vehicle batteries (full or mild hybrid), you don’t need any special connectors. They recharge automatically as you drive when the vehicle brakes or decelerates.
